International Business Machine Corporation or IBM is a leading company in the business of information technology. It also produces PC units and other hardware needs. Their company’s operation mainly focuses on Global Technology Services (GTS), Global Business Services (GBS), Systems and Technology, and in Global Financing.In 1912, IBM became a corporation. In 2007, it reported revenue of $98.7 billion with its total assets amounting to $120.4 billion. At present the corporation has 585, 572 stockholders.
IBM caters to markets in need of hardware, software, service, research, technology and services in the field of finance. It manufacturing centers are located in various sites in North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific.
The information technology company is well known for its research and development. No other technology company in the United States has more patents than IBM. Various awards have also been given to employees of IBM including three Nobel Prizes, 5 National Medals of Science, and 5 Turing Medals.
IBM is also known as a company with social and developmental causes. On October 2005, IBM committed formally that it will not use any genetic information to influence their decisions regarding employment – making it the first major company to make the decision. IBM support the National Geographic Society's Genographic Project.
It has recently acquires Telelogic AB, Diligent Technologies, Files X and Infodyne. Its common stocks are being traded in the New York Stock Exchange and its current stock price is $125.81 after recovering from a decrease below the $120 mark in late June. Analysts advise potential investors to buy IMB stocks.
